Beach Fun

We were so fortunate to be able to go to the beach twice this summer! Coleman really enjoyed the sand, the water, and just being on the beach. Here's a peek...

                                                              Searching for treasures

                                                                 Relaxing...only for a second!

                                                            Pooped from the beach

                                                              Waiting for the big catch!

"What are we waiting for?! I got my dad, my cooler, the chairs..."

Update on Coleman...

I want to post some pictures of our big boy but thought I would start with an update first! I can't believe it's been since April since I wrote an update. We recently had our "2 month cardiology check-up" but this time was in Charleston, SC. I asked to be transferred to a cardiologist there, mainly for insurance purposes, but it doesn't hurt to get connected with a doctor there as Coleman will have his open heart surgery at MUSC in Charleston. Not only was the staff wonderful but we love our new doctor. He walked in the room, immediately took over Coleman and asked what was on our minds. Wow...what a way to start the conversation. Four hours later, a few tears shed, and lots of planning for this upcoming surgery, we were off to spend the day as a family.
Good news is Coleman's health is fabulous! He is 21 pounds 3 ounces and growing. We decided nothing was pressing us to have this surgery now so we have postponed until 2012. I will keep you updated on when we pick a date. Of course, I asked...will there be a possibility for no surgery? The answer was no. :(
The encouraging news is Coleman should not have to be on meds for his heart as they would have taken place by now. Based on his progress, he just amazes the doctors everyday. They are just thrilled how well he has done and continues to do. Needless to say, so are we! Our doctor referred to a part of the heart that healed itself as God's nose (as that part of the heart looks like a nose when drawn on paper and there is no known reason why that particular section healed). That is pretty amazing!
It amazes me to think back on when he was born and what we were told...Coleman will not live to be 6 months without this surgery. Thank God for the many blessings and the fact Coleman blossoms everyday.

Bath time...

I think this is one of my new FAVORITE pictures of Coleman. It just shows his sweet personality. It seems he is full of laughter each afternoon Jamie and I come home. It makes any bad day so much better!  Bath time is a big deal for Coleman now. He used to hate the bath but has learned to splash, kick, and of course, play with his water toys. :) We love you, Coleman!!

Easter Weekend

Easter was such a fun week for us. Being Coleman's first Easter, we wanted to do it up right! Good Friday, Dad, Coleman and I woke up and died Easter eggs. So much fun! Coleman's favorite part was dumping the basket over and hearing the egg shells crunch. Oops! Saturday was such a fun day as we spent the late afternoon with Coleman's great, great aunt and uncle but they aren't that old. Ha! Can't forget Jordan and Walt, too! Sunday we set out for sunrise service with Nonnie and Pop (my mom and step-dad) at the river and enjoyed a fabulous country breakfast at George's Southside Restaurant. YUM! Coleman enjoyed hunting Easter eggs with his cousin Will, Sunday afternoon, and of course taking the eggs apart to see what it was all about. Too cute! Hate this weekend has to come to an end but I hope you are all enjoying this pretty, HOT day. Love to all!

Happy Easter!

I hope this post finds you well! Easter is quickly approaching and we are so looking forward to this special occastion and Coleman's first egg hunt! Whoo hoo! What fun! Coleman had his first visit to the Easter bunny but was not so sure what he thought of him. Ha! He made a puzzled face into the camera. I am adding a link to Coleman's 7 month pictures we took in Sumter, SC. They are just too funny. This little boy lets you know just what he is thinking. Hope you enjoy. I can't believe another month is almost gone. How time truly flies. Love to all!

20 lbs 9 oz!

Yep, that is Coleman's current weight! Ha! At almost 7 months you would think that is big for a baby, BUT, Coleman needs that weight to prepare for his surgery. We had a consult visit with our pediatric cardiologist today and he said things were just great. Coleman's heart sounds good and he is still targeting 12-18 months for surgery. Coleman was active and happy during our visit. :) You would NEVER know this little guy had anything going on inside that body as he lives life to the fullest everyday. Hope you do, too! We are so blessed with amazing doctors who found this little blip that he will soon have repaired. Until next time friends!

6 Months and Counting...

It's Sunday afternoon and "the boys" just left to go fishing! Coleman's first fishing trip with dad. Have I lost my mine to let him go so early? I know he will have a blast as he LOVES his dad.
I have never "blogged" before but thought now was a great time to start. After reading other blogs, I was inspired to share about Coleman, my (our) amazing son! Coleman was born September 10, 2010 at 3:45 p.m. It was the most amazing moment in my life, thus far. I can name many more joys he has brought to us since then as he is just the best thing that has ever happened to our little family. I sit here not believing we have shared 6 precious months with our child. I look forward to so many more.
Within 24 hours of labor and delivery, Coleman was ordered to have an echocardiogram. For those of you that may not be familiar with that word, as I certainly was not, that is an ultrasound of the heart. Not thinking much of it, I just went along with my day as I figured maybe this is routine. Oh, not so much! As of that afternoon, Coleman was diagnoised with an AV Septal Congenital Heart Defect. WHAT? Heart defect? Why?? How??? I could not imagine the road ahead of us as my pediatrician sat at my bed side telling me Coleman would have 6 months to live without open heart surgery. Here come the tears!!!!!!!!! Jamie and I were both overwhelmed beyond words, as there were no signs during my pregnancy, but willing to take WHATEVER steps necessary to get this baby healthy and happy. We were immediatlely assigned a pediatric cardiologist who we began seeing bi-weekly. Not so bad, but, scared beyond words as each week passed and each day got closer to that 6 month mark. Little by little, after so many prayers, we recieved fabulous news. Coleman not only gained weight and grew at a wonderful rate but his little heart was sucessfully doing it's thing. Coleman's surgery was delayed to 6-12 months and now 12-18 months based on his progress. Go Coleman and thank you, God! We feel so blessed by this little amazing being that greets us with a happy smile every morning and sends us off to dream land with big smiles and sweet talking. Coleman could not be a better baby. He is just the BEST!
I am going to finish up as it's time for laundry and cleaning while the boys are gone but I hope to continue to update you with our family things. Hope you will keep in touch and follow us. Much love!
