Update on Coleman...
I want to post some pictures of our big boy but thought I would start with an update first! I can't believe it's been since April since I wrote an update. We recently had our "2 month cardiology check-up" but this time was in Charleston, SC. I asked to be transferred to a cardiologist there, mainly for insurance purposes, but it doesn't hurt to get connected with a doctor there as Coleman will have his open heart surgery at MUSC in Charleston. Not only was the staff wonderful but we love our new doctor. He walked in the room, immediately took over Coleman and asked what was on our minds. Wow...what a way to start the conversation. Four hours later, a few tears shed, and lots of planning for this upcoming surgery, we were off to spend the day as a family.
Good news is Coleman's health is fabulous! He is 21 pounds 3 ounces and growing. We decided nothing was pressing us to have this surgery now so we have postponed until 2012. I will keep you updated on when we pick a date. Of course, I asked...will there be a possibility for no surgery? The answer was no. :(
The encouraging news is Coleman should not have to be on meds for his heart as they would have taken place by now. Based on his progress, he just amazes the doctors everyday. They are just thrilled how well he has done and continues to do. Needless to say, so are we! Our doctor referred to a part of the heart that healed itself as God's nose (as that part of the heart looks like a nose when drawn on paper and there is no known reason why that particular section healed). That is pretty amazing!
It amazes me to think back on when he was born and what we were told...Coleman will not live to be 6 months without this surgery. Thank God for the many blessings and the fact Coleman blossoms everyday.
